Learn to Play the Harp!
The harp is a beautiful instrument capable of powerful intensity and gentle subtlety. You can make a gorgeous, relaxed sound at your very first lesson yet still be learning fascinating nuances about tone, technique and musicality after a lifetime of study. It would be my joy to begin this journey of discovery with you!

WHO DO I TEACH?
I teach beginner to advanced level harpists ages 6 and up. Adult learners are welcome! Students will develop a strong technical foundation and sense of musical artistry that will benefit them the entirety of their harp experience. I will help middle and high school students with orchestra repertoire, school competitions, and college auditions. Anyone with a desire to learn and a dedication to practice and discovery is welcome!
WHAT IS MY TEACHING PHILOSOPHY?
My first goal is to instill in my students a passion for music in general and the harp in particular. We explore the unique aspects of the harp and immerse ourselves in the beautiful world this instrument opens for us. As this foundation of enjoyment is instilled, we develop relaxed technique and good practice habits. Students are encouraged to listen to the sounds they create and to play with expressivity and sensitivity. In addition to teaching the nuts and bolts of technique and tone production, I incorporate music history, theory, ear training, and sight-playing into lessons. It is my hope that students will ask questions and take the initiative to explore music-related subjects on their own beyond lessons. I believe that music is meant to be shared and enjoyed with others, so I encourage my students to participate in solo and ensemble performance opportunities which can refine their skills, bolster their confidence, and increase their proficiency.
